Default 2012 Sprinter ASR + Michelin LTX MS2 tires= Awesome!

Just finished a 77 mile drive through blowing snow, icy mix, 32 deg. F from I-64 in Hampton, VA up Rt. 17 to Tappahannock, VA. Deepest snow was about 6-8" but even that had cars upside down/ spun into the median, 4x4 upside down in the median, the Sprinter just kept on going like it was on rails.
Now I know why I paid the $$ for Michelin LTX MS2 tires. They rock when you really need to get somewhere.
Not sure the traction control ever really kicked in....didn't see any flashing triangles.
Whew, 30-35 mph for 77 miles can wear you out!
Roger

Great news and it shows how wise it is to have the right tyres for the conditions. No one likes to hear, 'If only you had fitted......'

Well done

I put them on one of my Jeeps, never had it out in the snow, but they are some quiet running, easy rolling tires!

I had just purchased some tires when I saw this thread. So I went back and had them put on the Michelins. More $$ but a much better ride. I went with a 235/85 R16 on my 2010 3500

hein,
Are those Alcoa forged rims?
You are running steel rims on the inside rears, or did you find a way to extend the
rear wheel studs?
Your Sprinter is looking GOOD!
You have a 170" wb short back right?
Roger

Thanks for the positive comments on the look.

Yes, those are Alcoas with OEM steelies on the inside. And, yes, it's a short back (not extended).

hein,
My Sprinter should look so good!
Was there any issue with the stud length?
I haven't looked at the Alcoa rims since I had the '06 T1N and wanted a full set, but the
T1N read studs wouldn't work with the rim thickness in the bolt pattern area.
Do you have the "polished both sides" Alcoa rims, or do you have to remount the tires all the
time to rotate them every 10K?
What is the rim width on your rear Alcoa rims....Do you have an invoice with the Alcoa Part Number?
Thanks,
Roger

Those ltx's are great I've ran them on every work van I've had, wear like iron to. I have 25k on the rear of my 3500 and just got new fronts, maybe 3/16" difference in tread height. You should get 100k out of a set easily so the price difference is a wash because you would go thru two sets of different brand tires in that time. Can't wait for my crappy goodyears on my Sierra to wear out to switch to michelins
