Emission Service Campaign Notification

Maslin

I've worked on a few vans
I hope this update does not increase DEF usage, An earlier (1~2 yrs ago) recall was said to drastically increase DEF usage, after this I started keeping track of DEF refills but have never calculated DEF mpg. Our 2020 sprinter is our RV, we only use it in the summer so we will not give it a good “after update” test until next May. We just received our notice on Nov 3rd, it indicates campaign # 2025070011. To bad they have not decided to recall & fix the cruise shutdown issue.

The cruise shutdown issue was fixed years ago. It’s warranty if you’re under warranty, it isn’t if you aren’t.

they make it up in charging $175 to install new wiper blades ... at least that's my dealer's going rate ...
figure wholesale on the blades is what $25 ~ 35 ? ... hilarious ...

$60 something I believe, I think I paid $72 at cost + 10%. We’re installing them for right at $100, parts and labor, 0.1 labor ($25) marked down as “competitive maintenance” to like $12.

I went to Mercedes of Omaha yesterday and purchased an air filter, oil filter, cabin filter, fuel filter, and a pair of wet wipers.... total was $525.38
The wet wipers alone were $133.11
Mind you that is just for the parts not installation.

But now that i have the actual correct part numbers, it will be the first and last time i ever buy filters and wipers from the stealership.

Dealers doing internet sales, usually offer 40% discount.
Than you have parts distributors.

I got a third letter the other day & have to look to see if the three Campaigns done when I got the first letter are the same as the letters I have gotten . Probably are done .

a third letter @fourthgear ? geez...

I got the second one a month after the first
I already went to the dealer for the first
I was going to schedule another visit for the second
but if there is a third letter coming, then I'll wait ...

why the piecemeal MBUSA ? why not all at once ... some of us have better things to do then having the work van sitting at the dealership ...

thanks for the tip

What am I missing here? Why would I do his when my van is running great (albeit it after a new EGR valve by my private mechanic). They seem desperate with all these notifications. Who does this benefit? MB or I?

Your state may or may not require you to do these in order to renew your vehicle registration

I did AEM on 4 Blutecs, collecting over $12,000 in reimbursements checks.
When I sold 2 of them right after, the other 2 generated about $8000 of repairs in following years, covered by the warranty.
Not bad for vehicles with 160,000 and 200,000 miles.
With MB doesn't take much, to go from 0 problems, to $10,000 issue.

0.1 to connect a charger
0.1 to connect the computer
0.1 for the update

If there are additional updates, you only get 0.1 each, the charger and computer are already connected. 30-second update, 3-hour update, doesn't matter. The tech (and the dealer) get paid 18 minutes for the first, 6 minutes for each additional. $60-70 total? The dealer is "losing money" on that $50 offer.
My dealer said it would take 2-3 hours. Are these Mercedes labor numbers? I would like to ask why I have to sit in their dealership for such a long time. I live 2 hours away.

The time the work pays and the time the work takes aren’t the same. Add in the check in process, getting through the shop, a good inspection, etc.

A couple hours is about as quick as the whole thing can go.

I agree 100%, i have to drive 100 miles everytime i goto the nearest dealership. I have two notices as well.
Has anyone had these performed on their truck yet? Surely someone here has?

Many of the dealers in our area have free WiFi work areas, drink and snack bars and even baristas for service customers.

Makes sense, Thank you very much.

There Can Be Only ONE
I’m thinking the 2 updates I had done a few weeks ago took somewhere around 6 hrs with a simple oil/filter change and a wash.
I couldn’t pass up the $60 oil change and $1 wash, total $61 with an email coupon and they topped off the def as well.
Yes you read that right, $61. The newish service guy was a bit surprised too.

I did 0001 already
the letter for 0011 came three or four weeks after I had done 0001
then i saw @Fourbye 's post about a possible third inbound in the mail
So I've been holding off on scheduling until i get that one ... if there is actually a third coming

It's the Takata airbag recall all over again. We received the driver side and then the passenger side less than 3 months later.
