TEB7AS Relays

Morning knowledgeable people. I've fitted a TEB7AS bypass relay to my 2021 Winnebago Sprinter to run my trailer lights. I haven't yet plugged it into my trailer as the first time I drove it I had a dashborad warning telling me my right hand rear indicator wasn't working. As well, the dashboard indicator was running fast. Further investigation showed the actual indicator light wasn't working but that side stop light was flashing instead. I checked the scotchlock was on the right wire, removed each of the other wires until nothing was connected but now the problem persists. The actual indicator does work by direct power connection. I get the impression that whatever controls all that it needs resetting?
Thanks, Grant

Good afternoon again, answered my own question here - turned out to be a Scotchlock that had cut right through the wire. Lasted long enough to get out on the road. Funny that the broken wire then went out through the stoplight. Anway, all good now.

Tip from the wise - DO NOT use Scotchlocks on automotive wiring!

They destroy wiring and cause hot spots and corrosion and ultimate failure, much as you have found out already!!!

I was taught to strip a short 5 - 6 mm section of insulation off the parent wire then twist the new wire around it and solder before wrapping with wiring loom tape.

Agree, good policy, thanks!

When a different bulb flashes, it's frequently due to a bad ground connection (the current has to flow elsewere, and the brake lights are a lower resistance path)

Yes, I get that although in this case the brake light, although wrong, was operating very well. Anyway it's OK now that the break is fixed. Thanks for the illustration.
