Today in Seattle, typically not too far off from CA in general:

Experts say the seasonal switch to summer-blend gasoline is a major factor behind the increase, particularly on the West Coast. Refineries begin maintenance ahead of the transition and reduce output, while summer-blend fuel is more expensive to produce because it has a lower volatility to limit evaporation in warmer temperatures.

Seattle has a dream of being just like California.

Just to be clear, Seattle wants to be like SF.
They have followed most of the policies from SF including the illegal drug being allowed in the public street, now that SF u-turned and changed their policy, I wonder what Seattle would do. Might take sometime I expect Seattle to follow.

Just picked up a 26 outfited 3500xd from texas drove it back to Norcal. I was filling up from texas, Newmexico,AZ and NV all for around $60-$80. Once i got home, went to my sams club who offered diesel easy $112+

I wont be surprised if we hit $8 or $9 for a little bit until new legislation allows the refinery's to come back. thats of they even want to............

It’s far too small. California is huge! Seattle can’t be more than 100 square miles. There are no mountains either.
Ha ha... no mountains right in Seattle, true, so in the exact sense of comparing just "Seattle" with all of California, true. But Mount Rainier and the Cascades are close by.

Valero heat signature images show the refinery is COLD. You would have an incredible start up cost to try and get it back online, and that's not even beginning to deal with the CA lunatic emissions nut jobs. Once you shutter them in, unless somebody gets long term guarantees, on what emissions are going to be allowed, that refinery site is done.

It’s pretty damn sad, I’m live in Northern California. I actually live in the county where the Chevron and Valero refinery are located. Along those two MAJOR business shutting down. We also have a Budweiser factory that also closed down all within 6 months of each other. People don’t understand how much millions of sales tax and other taxes along with high dollar paying jobs those 3 companies where supply the county and state with.
