I just filled my Sprinter @ $3.76 per gallon. The last time I filled it, at the same station, it was $3.49.

Correct. Saudi Arabia (4%) and Iraq (3%) are.
But the fact that we don't buy much from them does not displace the fact that others *do*.
Those others will be seeking other sources during the disruption, and may well buy from us ...
which means competing (on price and capacity) with American drivers for the fuels that we refine, import and export.

BTW we (US) are supposed to be protected from the world oil market, especially Alaska oil which specifically was guaranteed to never be on the global market, it was only for us, not sure how BP got their mitts on it, more than likely there are a lot more suitcases of cash changing hands with our politicians.....

According to that article, 20% of the global oil goes through the straights of Hormuz.
Even if we didn't control it, rerouting 20% of the oil should not add a lot to the final cost of oil products, if oil prices rise dramatically, it is only because the oil companies can screw us in any direction they want and never see resistance from our elected officials......

Oil is (mostly) fungible ... if other countries are willing to pay a higher price, we'll export it to them instead of self-consumption.
(the same is true for refined products)

Oil is a global commodity, and the price is set on the global market. US oil trades at global prices.

I noticed here in Charlotte NC, price jumped on diesel about .40 and EVERY station is now 3.99 a gallon...

I used to use the BP on 73 coming off Betsy Ross, they were always one of the cheapest, but that was years ago.
