EGR delete with software upgrade and tune.

Hi,

hoping someone can help me. I am planing to have a tune done on my 2020 3 litre v6 om642 to close the Egr and take it out of function. I have gone through many of the threads but just want some clarification on the software delete for the Egr I plan to have done. The guy I have tuning the van said I need to install a block off plate as pictured in the attached file (I took that from one of the threads here) could someone please clarify it’s just the one plate I need to install and that’s all as pictured with red arrows in attached? And is there anything else I need to know? DPF will continue to regen as per the tune and upgrade he does. Thanks in advance.

yeah it’s just one plate in that feed line you’re pointing at
that spot blocks exhaust before it even gets into the EGR system, which is what you want with a software delete
nothing else is usually needed as long as the tune properly disables EGR and keeps DPF strategy intact, just make sure it’s actually coded out or you’ll get codes/limp mode
Hi thanks for your reply and helping. I replied on one of my other posts as well. I’m a little confused because my understanding was that point at where that plate is installed is the point at which the exhaust flow goes into the air intake manifold (elbow before entering the air intake) I understood that the exhaust gas come of the exhaust side of the turbo passes through the cooler first and then Egr into the air intake which would mean that that plate would be stopping the gasses passing into the air intake only.

Did you go through with this? Eliminating the EGR function is what I'd like to do as well. I am curious why the plate is needed? Simply turning off the EGR should keep it closed and non-functioning, shouldn't it? Also, I've read that tuning after EGR delete is critical and must be done right to counter the higher combustion temperatures and maybe some other effects that I can't recall. Did you find a tune that is specific to disconnecting the EGR and had proven history of success?
