The last of the straight 5's...

A 2006 70km LWB 5cyl with real auto trans. Looks like its sat around for a while and it has that massive aircon cut-out in the side. But find me another 5cyl 722.6 LWB here in Oz for sale or otherwise. A rare beast indeed.

This thread was intended to alert people to see/discuss Sprinters that are selling at auction - aka selling imminently/time-critical, because usually the auction links disappear before people are even aware of them.

Maybe create a new thread for posting these classified listings of normal run of the mill Sprinters - often with dreamer price tags for what they are? I think it would be useful posting facebook ones, since facebook is so hit and miss as to what results it shows any one person.

What do others think? I have email alerts set up on this thread so I don't miss out on any auctions. But for classified I usually just go looking myself, and have a laugh at the asking prices.

Nice tidy van but the seller doesn't know what they are talking about...
Theres no such thing as "2.7l 4cyl", the photos show its a 4cyl 313 which is 2.2l. Therefore its not a "5 speed automatic" either, since the 722.6 auto was only available on the 5cyl engine. So it being "automatic" according to the seller, means its sprintshift, so buyer beware.

2000 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 313CDI LWB Turbo Diesel Manual Mobile Home

A bit similar layout to our 313, 2003 with the large Toilet/shower room, wish ours was 200mm less width so could have a floor to ceiling hanging cupboard , my guess its worth $30,000, appreciate knowing what it goes for. Ours at 165K insured for $38K.

A word of caution when buying a salvage vehicle from Mannheim auctions.
I went through this process a couple of years back bidding on a 2010 313CDI that was listed with "possible engine/gearbox issues"
Silly thing with Mannheim is that there's no option to inspect a salvage vehicle in their yard prior to auction.
So all you can really go by is their report and posted pictures.
I had the winning bid and after payment organised a tilt tray for pickup.
When the tilt tray arrived at my place for delivery the driver told me Mannheim loaded the van with a forklift !!
Resulting in a few dents and bend tailshaft 🤬
After complaining about this I was informed that this was their policy and that it was mentioned in the fine print.
Why on earth you would load a perfectly good rolling vehicle with a forklift is beyond me 🤡
So I was up for over a grand extra for a new driveshaft.
I still ended up being lucky though since "possible engine/gearbox issues" ended up just being a disconnected coolant hose.

When looking at the following search in VIC, I have a hunch that the following Sprinters aren't selling that well.

If used car dealers aren't buying the newer models, then what is the problem with them?

Check out this beauty. A 616 is rare enough, but this one is a tilt tray with a whole massive removable 6 berth camper van module on board.

Sold already. You wouldn't even get that fully removable professionally made and kitted out camper body for anywhere near $60k, let alone with a tilt tray sprinter included. Someone got a bargain there.
